Helping Vets
At Atlantic Working Dogs, we are honored to collaborate with Operation Patriots FOB (OPFOB) by donating dogs to support their mission. OPFOB is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and fostering positive experiences for veterans, active duty military, first responders, and their families through outdoor and recreational activities. They aim to build camaraderie and purpose among peers in a comfortable and relaxed environment.
About Operation Patriots FOB
Founded by JR Brown, a veteran who found healing in the outdoors after battling PTSD, OPFOB provides a retreat where veterans and first responders can connect with nature and each other. Located in the heart of South Carolina's Lowcountry, OPFOB offers a sanctuary for those seeking understanding, recovery, and renewed purpose.
The Impact of Service Dogs on Veterans
Service dogs play a crucial role in assisting veterans coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other post-combat challenges. These specially trained dogs perform tasks such as providing a calming presence during panic attacks, patrolling the perimeter of a room to reassure their handler, turning on lights, and offering an excuse to leave tense social situations. The bond between a veteran and their service dog can be therapeutic, providing a sense of purpose and responsibility that traditional treatments may not offer.
Our Commitment
At Atlantic Working Dogs, we are committed to supporting OPFOB's mission by providing well-trained dogs to assist veterans and first responders. We believe in the profound impact that these service dogs can have on the lives of those who have served our country, offering them companionship, assistance, and a renewed sense of purpose.
